The Wire

The Wire, which ran on HBO from 2002 to 2008, is widely known for being one of the greatest TV shows ever. The show was set in the city of Baltimore, and through its five seasons dissected the issues the city faced — including drug gangs to the school system and the media. The show was really progressive for its time and brought attention to real-world class and racial tensions and the struggles faced by Baltimore’s most vulnerable residents. The Wire has been nominated for and has won a whole host of awards and it’s definitely up there as one of the most thought-provoking series of all time.
