The Sex and the City TV show ran from 1998 to 2004 and also had two movie sequels that came out after the series ended — that’s how successful it was. Although there are some undeniably questionable aspects to the series (a lack of diversity, for one), SATC was one of the first shows that unashamedly embraced female sexuality, which was exactly what America needed in the ’90s and early ’00s. The show’s plot tackled issues such as divorce, abortion, fertility, female masturbation, and alcohol issues and was super woke for its time.
