Leighton Meester Says She “Wouldn’t Wanna Go Back” To Gossip Girl
With revivals and reboots taking over our TV screens, the cast of Gossip Girl is often asked if their iconic show is next. Most of them, including Blake Lively to Penn Badgley, have answered this question, and now Leighton Meester has expressed her thoughts on the possibility. In a new interview with PorterEdit, the actress reflected on her time playing the iconic role of Blair Waldorf on The CW series, but revealed that it’s not something she’d want to revisit.
Leighton called her experience on Gossip Girl a “very special time” in her life, however, it was also filled with a lot of challenges – AKA getting used to her sudden rise to fame.
“I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s sort of a time capsule. A lot of the questions that come from it are: ‘Do you miss it?’ ‘Did you love what you wore?’” she said, explaining that asking her these questions is like asking her if she’d like to go back to high school. “The truth is, it was so special and such a unique, amazing experience, but no, I wouldn’t wanna go back to it; I was a kid!”
She went on to say that because she was so young when she started the show, she was required to grow up a lot quicker. “A lot more people were suddenly around and I was being looked at,” Leighton said. “If you don’t have the right perspective, you could definitely be confused by people being that nice to you or judging you for behavior that’s typical of a 20, 21-year-old.”
Leighton revealed that she struggled with her life being so public and now that she’s older, she’s able to openly say that she’s not quite sure if it was “the healthiest environment” to be in at the time. But despite the fact that she wouldn’t want to go back to her days on Gossip Girl, she admitted that there’s nothing she would change since it lead her to husband Adam Brody.
“I wouldn’t change anything [in the past] because I’m happy where I am now,” she said. “And I think that that’s one of the many wonderful parts of not only having a child and meeting your soulmate but also I feel really lucky career-wise – really in a place that I want to be.”
Did you hear that? She said Adam is her soulmate. Now, excuse us while we take a second to swoon over this couple. We honestly still can’t believe that Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen got together to give us the IRL Gossip Girl/The O.C. crossover of our dreams!
