Riverdale’s Mädchen Amick Teases Falice Drama on Season 3’s Flashback Episode
By now, you’ve probably heard that Riverdale is getting a flashback episode next season and that the main cast will take on the roles of their teen parents! The episode is set to follow the younger versions of the show’s fan-favorite parents, and unmask some of the dark secrets they’ve been hiding for all of these years. Of course, that means we’ll finally find out what happened between Fred Andrews and Hermione Lodge and what drove our beloved ship, #Falice, apart!
Mädchen Amick, who plays Alice Cooper on The CW show, recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss what a flashback episode means for her character. She revealed that fans might get some answers about Alice and FP Jones’s past and why they broke up when they were teens.
“I know that there was a moment where Alice decided to leave FP and the Serpents,” Mädchen teases, adding that we’ll find out what made her make that decision. “What was she running away from and why did she choose Hal and this other life and completely turn her back? What happened?”
In season two, it was finally confirmed that Alice and FP had a secret child together, so hopefully, we’ll get the backstory for that as well. Elsewhere in the interview, Skeet Ulrich teased that there’s a secret all the parents have been harboring, with Luke Perry adding, “There is something in the past for Fred and for a few of our parental characters that we’re going to get to, and I don’t necessarily want anybody to know about it. Everybody’s got their secrets, right?”
WHAT ON EARTH ARE THEY HIDING? Did they cover up a murder? Did they do something that might come back to haunt them as adults? It’s got to be one hell of a juicy secret…
Described as the series’ take on The Breakfast Club, the episode will be a “twisted” version of the classic teen movie. AH! Riverdale set in the ’80s? We are totally here for it. We will see Lili Reinhart playing a younger version of Alice (Mädchen), Cole Sprouse playing a young FP (Skeet), KJ Apa playing a young Fred (Luke), Camila Mendes playing a young Hermione (Marisol Nichols), and Madeleine Petsch playing a young Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt). No confirmation on who will play young Mary Andrews (Molly Ringwald), Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos), and Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro), but we’re excited AF to find out!

Earlier this week, creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained why they decided to feature a flashback episode during the Television Critics Association press tour.
“Throughout the years, we’ve talked a little bit about backstory and we’ve been revealing backstory slowly,” he said. “And periodically I will get a call phone call from Mädchen, who’ll say, ‘Ok, I’m playing a scene and I know nothing of the context.’ So we talk about that stuff.”
Roberto also said that the parents might get a bit more attention this season. “We’d love to do a bizarre episode where we follow most of the parents, and the kids are just on the fringes. In season three, we’re in a place where we can do that. I think it’d be a blast,” he teased. “We learn about a really dark secret that the parents have been keeping since they were in high school.”
We love the sound of that! Can October 10th come sooner, please?
