Everything We Know (So Far) About the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

By  |

Every year, the Victoria’s Secret Angels don their Swarovski-encrusted wings and give us a glimpse into the lingerie brand’s latest collection at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The star-studded model lineup includes the likes of Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters, and will surely be the highlight of the fashion season. The show has arguably become an American holiday tradition. The show costs a whopping $12 million to produce, and is the “most-watched fashion event of the year,” according to Harper’s Bazaar.

Rehearsals are already underway today in New York City, but there’s still a long way to go until the Angels grace our screens on December 2. Here is everything we know (so far) about the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The Angels

KJ is officially back. After Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid took a hiatus from the show last year, all three are now confirmed to be walking this year’s star-studded catwalk. Behati Prinsloo Levine and a few other season favorites will also be modeling Victoria’s Secret’s latest collection and rocking some spectacular angel wings. This year’s show also comes with a few progressive firsts for the brand. Kelsey Merritt will be the first Filipino model to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Winnie Harlow will walk as the first model with vitiligo to participate in the show. Even more exciting, the Victoria’s Secret x Mary Katrantzou capsule collection will also make its debut on the runway this December.

Shanina Shaik, Barbara Palvin, and Toni Garrn will also return to the heavens this year at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Rumors are speculating after Hailey Baldwin was spotted at a casting last year, but no word on her appearance has been confirmed.

Since Alessandra Ambrosio hung up her angel wings last year after walking the show for 12 years, it’s exciting to see that the brand is bringing on a crop of fresh faces. Lily Aldridge will also be absent from this year’s show as she is currently expecting her second child.

The Wings

So far, two wing designs have been confirmed. The first is a psychedelic, bohemian style designed by Mary Katrantzou, presumably for the collaboration’s runway debut. The design features purple and green floral designs that match the ensemble. The wings also feature a large black, light blue, and white mandala flower in the center.

The second wing design revealed so far is by Swarovski. Swarovski has created an entire look featuring over 125,000 (yes, thousand) crystals. Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd. The wings themselves create a star around her gorgeous mop of blonde hair. The design offers a look into how VS has gone beyond what people typically think of when they hear “wings.” The brand is instead favoring more geometric and artistic designs in recent years.

The Musical Guests

Who could top Harry Styles? This year’s musical guests are poised to do just that. In the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the musical lineup is bigger than ever. Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Shawn Mendes, Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini and The Struts will all perform at this year’s show. Here’s hoping they won’t have any Angel run-ins on the runway à la
Ariana Grande.

The Fantasy Bra

Victoria’s Secret

And, finally, what we’ve all been dying to see — the 2018 Fantasy Bra. One must wonder whether that thing could possibly be comfortable to wear. However, when it’s covered in thousands of dollars worth of crystals, who really cares?

The 2018 Fantasy Bra is said to have taken over 930 hours to create, and is stoned with 2,100 Swarovski crystals. Angel Elsa Hosk will be flying down the runway in this one-of-a-kind creating. However, your dreams of feeling like a Victoria’s Secret Angel aren’t quite over. For the first time in the brand’s history, a $250 version of the Fantasy Bra will be available at Victoria’s Secret on November 29. Now, that’s something to lose your wings over.

Tune in to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on December 2 on ABC.
